Reverberate - Music Leader Trainee

This is a short-term trainee position with the Reverberate band development programme.

Reverberate is a Pan-Merseyside initiative for the promotion of young musicians and the development of performance opportunities across the region. St Helens Council and the Citadel Arts Centre are working in partnership to develop and deliver this programme in St Helens. We are seeking to recruit a trainee music leader to assist in the delivery of a fourteen week series of workshops in which young people aged 13 -19 will learn a range of musical and performance skills.

The trainee will work alongside music leaders Steve Kinsey and Tim Campbell and will be involved in all aspects of the planning, delivery and evaluation of the programme. Trainees will be encouraged to contribute their own creative ideas and skills to facilitate the learning process for participants.

Training needs will be assessed at the start of the project according to the experience of the trainee.

Skills and Person Specification
The trainee will have a high level of proficiency in instruments, vocals or music production.
The trainee will preferably have experience of live performance and / or recording.
The trainee will have an interest in working with young people in a supportive role (ideally with some experience of working with young people).
The trainee will be enthusiastic, professional and punctual at all times.

Hours: Two hours per week for fourteen weeks starting in January 09. The workshops will take place on a Friday evening.
Pay: £10 per hour

This position will be subject to a CRB disclosure since the project involves working with young people.
