reverberate gigs - review
Review of recent gigs - sent in by participants in the project:
The mid-point of February of this year saw the ever-rising band, “Silent Thunder” hit the limelight, as they wowed audiences of the north-west with their quirky, mainstream indie/ alternative musical agenda.
Although extremely young, the four lads from St. Helens, Bri Hughes [Vocals/ Rhythm Guitar], Rob Hurst [Bass], Danny Follin [Drums], and Tom Finch [Lead Guitar] have already clocked up a wide range of high profile gigs in the region, including St. Helens’ own “Eclectica” and “arts festival” annual occasions, whilst also paying homage to Liverpool’s “New Picket” venue and St. Helens’ equally renowned “Citadel”, during their recent “Reverberate” tour.
The “Reverberate” project is a Merseyside programme of musical workshops and live gigs for people aged between 13 and 19, who want music to become a “major” part of their lives, whether it be through learning how to play an instrument, join a band, or learn about the use of music technology in the music of today.
The band proved to be a big ‘hit’ with their audiences, highlighting not only what the product of such a great project can be, but also addressing the excellent social effect that music can have to such an age group.
Danny Follin, the man on drumming duties, gave his verdict of the project: “I really enjoyed the gigs. As well as enabling me to carry on with the hobby I have always enjoyed, they also helped me to discover that making music is an excellent way of recognising one another’s individual strengths and weaknesses, and can shape you into a better person in all aspects of life”.
Bri Hughes, the main vocalist/guitarist added “The reverberate project has been a great learning curve for us as a band, and has given us invaluable experience that we can use at gigs we play at in the future”.
The band would like to thank all at the reverberate project for allowing them to become a part of such an ever-growing scheme.
