As most of you know, we no longer have St Helens music collective; this is a real shame as there are plenty of bands, performers, djs, and producers in the St Helens area.
I, and a few others, started an alternative dance music night last year, in which we’ve offered a space for local acts to showcase themselves and gain invaluable experience. Such spaces are very rare in St Helens now. One year on, it’s still going strong and we’ve seen acts who’ve played their first gig at our night, go on to being booked at various nights around the north west, which gives us a nice warm glow.
I know we could offer something similar for local bands in the area; it’s got a relaxed friendly atmosphere, well publicized, plus it’s a great place to network.
And although we do handle the organisational side of things, we make a point of encouraging people to get involved (in any way they’d wish to contribute) and to make their own mark.
Also, if this becomes a success, we will consider approaching the council with plans to arrange a small festival.
So if anybody out there has any ideas, thoughts, or you just like the sound of it, then please do not hesitate to contact myself via email: marc2597@hotmail.com
