Community Choir
I'd like to see a good all-purpose singing group, where we could try a bit of all different styles of singing, gospel, pop, rock, folk-songs, Mozart, opera choruses, Lloyd Webber musicals, Gilbert and Sullivan, a cappella....
Something for everybody, and a great way for audiences and singers to find out about music they've never met before - might well need more than one music director to get the range.

We may have just the choir! The Sing Out 08 choir is a newly formed choir made up of all ages and interests and currently rehearsing at The Citadel on a Wednesday evening.
The current repertoire is based around a specially commissioned piece by the composer Bill Connor based on the recollections and experiences of St Helens and is a wonderful example of 'serious' yet accessible choral music. This will be performed at an end of year concert on December 14th at the A Foundation in Liverpool alongside choirs from Halton, Knowsley and Sefton.
The choir is led by Gareth Owen of the Liverpool Phil who has a great pedigree in a wide range of styles and is absolutely superb at putting new singers at ease. The choir membership has been hugely enthusiastic, have kept on coming - and they make a great sound. Moves are afoot to continue into 2009, watch this space...
Saw them at the Christmas Lights Switch-on! For such a new choir they were terrific, great fun and enthusiastic. Looking forward to hearing the new piece too. And what was that new Christmas song they did? Can we hear more?
The choir is carrying on as part of the Citadel's community programme!
