Band Interviews
Are there any budding writers out there? What ever happened to fanzines that we had in the 80's like The End (written by members of the Farm) and Subliminal Cuts etc and why is the youth of today not doing anything like this anymore?
These where witty magazines that we raced to HMV or Probe if you wanted to be cool and more importantly they gave rise to some wonderful writing talent because aside from their jokes and what was in or out that month, there was also reviews of gigs and the point I am getting to here, was band interviews.
Fantastic scoops like one guy who got talking to Bono after a gig in the Royal Court and when asking him about being in the band he said to Bono "can I quote you on that" Bono's reply? "sure" and a few weeks later a real conversationalist interview with the great man was printed.
Now I'm not saying you will get U2 who back then were just taking off, but today's equivalent could be bands like The Wombats or a bit bigger, The Zutons. C'mon there must be someone who can get a chat going with them and tell them you will post it on Music-Net for us to share and who knows we may be able to get a weekly interview forum going.
If your going to a gig talk to the artists and tell us all on the forum what they said, I'll buy anyone a pint if you can get Michael Head (Shack) or for those old enough like me the legendary Pale Fountains I'm desperate to know whatever happened to Fred, a dog he bought for a video that he then kept as a pet only to move out and lumber his poor mum with it. Great days the 80's rrrrrrrr.

From wikipedia:
In November 2007, Mick Head announced that he was reforming The Pale Fountains for two gigs to take place in February of 2008. The first gig was held at the Carling Academy in Liverpool on Saturday, the 2nd of February.
But yes - great idea re some interviews - and anything to do with music, not just bands. I'd like to read about a whole range of experiences - something to inspire me.
Another TOP idea buddy let's see it happen.
Write on!
Yes, I went to that gig and a blinding night too even got the Tee Shirt (honest) ha ha. I used to play footie with Mick when we were kids and it was great seeing them chased by all the major's and were signed up eventually by Virgin for a then whopping £150,000 advance of which nearly 90 grand went on the first single called Thank You, Check out a download on You Tube http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1URETuqEIn0 and then the original video in 1983 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tM4Y6rjeNlE&feature=related a great story here was the girl in the vid was shopping in Church Street Liverpool with her mum when Mike Head just went over and asked if she would be in it and she said yes. He went out with her for a while but then fizzled out rrrrr.
Finally for the reunion gig this year they put out a request for Jock the old drummer to get in touch and were still trying after 2 years before finding he lived only 10 minutes away, nice to see that Jock's laid back manner has never changed
Has anyone got any old memories they can share cos i can keep this forum going all by myself ha ha if you don't mind hearing about the 80's
